Club Secretary Andrew Gilbert has returned from the Arctic after a 3,000 mile sponsored motorbike ride from which he raised around £2,500 for Hope House Childrens Hospice. He was surprised to be too warm rather than too cold during a freak hot spell. Andy took part in the event as a volunteer from the Canal Boat Adventure Project which works closely with the hospice.

On 15th September 2007 we organised a sponsored walk for Rotary Foundation. We had eleven walkers,comprising Rotary members, partners and friends. We met at Entwistle reservoir and walked from there around the Wayho and the Jumbles- approximately twelve miles in total. A group picture was taken outside the cafe at the Jumbles. We were honoured to be joined by Elizabeth Tatman, District Governor Nominee, and her husband Michael when we stopped for a welcome lunch at the Black Bull, Turton. The event was enjoyed by all. We celebrated Burn’s Night in style. More photos are available in the Members are. The haggis, tatties and neaps, and the rest of the meal were delicious and the readings by Joe, Eric, Malcolm and Margaret were entertaining
