Warrington Youth Orchestra

Warrington Youth Orchestra is a charitable organisation offering three symphony orchestras of increasing standard for the youth of Warrington & the surrounding areas, aged from 8 to 21. Rehearsals are at Bridgewater High School (Upper Site) each Saturday morning in school term time. They give several concerts each year, at Bridgewater High School or the Parr Hall. All conductors & sectional assistants are professional musicians. There is a residential training course each October in Cumbria mixing high quality musical training with exciting outdoor activities led by fully qualified instructors. There are exchange visits with the Musikschüle in Hilden, & an annual joint concert with the Wirral Youth Orchestra.

Walton Lea Employment Project

Trains & educates young people with learning difficulties towards employment within a real working environment & open employment off site e.g. gardening, joinery etc. This service also provides opportunities for people to improve their qualifications by training to NVQ Levels I & II.

Sea Cadets

Voluntary youth organisation, for young people aged 10 to 18. The organisation is designed to promote personal development, social inclusion & citizenship amongst young people, whatever their background, race, creed or colour. The aim is to provide Cadets with structured training for good citizenship, in an organised, disciplined & stimulating environment.

2007-12-17 - Northwest Air Ambulance

The North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) is a unique regional medical air emergency service covering Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and Cumbria.

Established in 1999, the NWAA is a registered charity receiving no mainstream funding, yet it offers a vital service seven days a week, 365 days a year across 5,500 square miles serving a residential population of seven million.

Life Straws

The LifeStraw is a personal water purification device turning any water into drinking water. It costs less than the price of a cup of coffee. Distribution will be via the Life Box organisation who will send them when called for - to disasters & areas of great need around the world.

Life Education Programme

Educating children about the effects and risks associated with the use of drugs,including alcohol and tobacco. The health education programme is targeted at 4 – 11 year-olds and aims to help them make healthy choices in their life-styles.

The Butterfly Project

NCH Butterfly Project offers a child bereavement service to children have experienced the death of a significant family member. They also provide support for children with life limiting conditions. Direct, individualised 1:1 support is available for these young people & their family members. Additionally, NCH Butterfly Project Bereavement Service provides free training, advice, consultancy, support & resources to professionals including Health, Education & Social Care staff who may come into contact with bereaved children.

Jaipur Limb Project

A Jaipur Limb is an artificial leg, developed at the Mahaveer hospital in Jaipur, India. The unique component is the Jaipur foot, a clever combination of wood & various densities of rubber vulcanised into a realistic looking brown foot. It is hard-wearing & will last for three or four years, longer if worn with a shoe. One of the major differences between the Jaipur technology & western technology is the cost - whereas a western limb will cost between £1,000.00 & £2,000.00, a Jaipur limb can be made & fitted for as little as £25.00.

Families UNited

The aim of FUN is to provide parents & children with sensory, physical & associated disabilities the opportunity to interact with other families & professionals, enabling learning & support for all. They provide monthly newsletters, social events, activities & advice & information.

Wheelchair Foundation UK

The Wheelchair Foundation is a nonprofit organization leading an international effort to create awareness of the needs and abilities of people with physical disabilities, to promote the joy of giving, create global friendship, and to deliver a wheelchair to every child, teen and adult in the world who needs one, but cannot afford one. For these people, the Wheelchair Foundation delivers Hope, Mobility and Freedom

Woolston Eyes Conservation Project

It's aim is to promote the study and conservation of the wildlife and habitat of the area with particular regard to the ornithology

Making Space, Warrington

Making Space continues to raise the standard in mental health services, enabling social inclusion and promoting independence, with all service provision offering a person centred approach.

Warrington Hospital League of Friends

The Hospital League of Friends was formed over 40 years ago, the objectives being to add to the patient care. League members are all volunteers and receive no remuneration or expenses.
The Money raised is used to buy either Medical and Surgical equipment for the hospital and items to improve patient comfort.

Fife Rangers Junior Football Club

Our local league is the Warrington Junior Football League We have teams ranging from Under 6's to Under 15s at junior level plus U16s, U18s and Open Age.

Cambodian Hospital

Dalton Boot, [Orthopaedic Surgeon at Warrington Hospital], has spent the last 4 years helping Cambodian Surgeons to develop an Orthopaedic unit to treat the many patients with untreated orthopaedic deformities and the many victims of road accidents.The present ward is now much improved but very overcrowded: The charity is trying to fund a new building to admit and treat more people. Luckily building costs in Cambodia are a fraction of those in UK. Please get in touch if you can offer any help to Dalton Boot.

Warrington Schools Concert Band

President's Charity for 2008
From its formation in October 1987 with just 17 musicians at its first rehearsal, Warrington Schools’ Concert Band has developed into an organisation that has a reputation for presenting challenging but enjoyable music from the modern symphonic band repertoire to its members and audiences alike. It provides an opportunity for young musicians from schools in Warrington and the surrounding districts to develop as individual musicians whilst concentrating on adventurous compositions.
