The following are just some of the charities who have benefited from the funds raised over more recent years by the Rotary Club of Warrington:Warrington Youth Orchestra
Warrington Youth Orchestra is a charitable organisation offering three symphony orchestras of increasing standard for the youth of Warrington & the surrounding areas, aged from 8 to 21. Rehearsals are at Bridgewater High School (Upper Site) each Saturday morning in school term time. They give several concerts each year, at Bridgewater High School or the Parr Hall. All conductors & sectional assistants are professional musicians. There is a residential training course each October in Cumbria mixing high quality musical training with exciting outdoor activities led by fully qualified instructors. There are exchange visits with the Musikschüle in Hilden, & an annual joint concert with the Wirral Youth Orchestra.
Walton Lea Employment Project
Trains & educates young people with learning difficulties towards employment within a real working environment & open employment off site e.g. gardening, joinery etc. This service also provides opportunities for people to improve their qualifications by training to NVQ Levels I & II.
Sea Cadets
Voluntary youth organisation, for young people aged 10 to 18. The organisation is designed to promote personal development, social inclusion & citizenship amongst young people, whatever their background, race, creed or colour. The aim is to provide Cadets with structured training for good citizenship, in an organised, disciplined & stimulating environment.
Northwest Air Ambulance
The North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) is a unique regional medical air emergency service covering Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and Cumbria.
Established in 1999, the NWAA is a registered charity receiving no mainstream funding, yet it offers a vital service seven days a week, 365 days a year across 5,500 square miles serving a residential population of seven million.
Life Straws
The LifeStraw is a personal water purification device turning any water into drinking water. It costs less than the price of a cup of coffee. Distribution will be via the Life Box organisation who will send them when called for - to disasters & areas of great need around the world.
Life Education Programme
Educating children about the effects and risks associated with the use of drugs, including alcohol and tobacco. The health education programme is targeted at 4 – 11 year-olds and aims to help them make healthy lifestyle choices.
The Butterfly Project
NCH Butterfly Project offers a child bereavement service to children have experienced the death of a significant family member. They also provide support for children with life limiting conditions. Direct, individualised 1:1 support is available for these young people & their family members. Additionally, NCH Butterfly Project Bereavement Service provides free training, advice, consultancy, support & resources to professionals including Health, Education & Social Care staff who may come into contact with bereaved children.
Jaipur Limb Project
A Jaipur Limb is an artificial leg, developed at the Mahaveer hospital in Jaipur, India. The unique component is the Jaipur foot, a clever combination of wood & various densities of rubber vulcanised into a realistic looking brown foot. It is hard-wearing & will last for three or four years, longer if worn with a shoe. One of the major differences between the Jaipur technology & western technology is the cost - whereas a western limb will cost between £1,000.00 & £2,000.00, a Jaipur limb can be made & fitted for as little as £25.00.
Families UNited
The aim of FUN is to provide parents & children with sensory, physical & associated disabilities the opportunity to interact with other families & professionals, enabling learning & support for all. They provide monthly newsletters, social events, activities & advice & information.

Wheelchair Foundation UK
The Wheelchair Foundation is a nonprofit organization leading an international effort to create awareness of the needs and abilities of people with physical disabilities, to promote the joy of giving, create global friendship, and to deliver a wheelchair to every child, teen and adult in the world who needs one, but cannot afford one. For these people, the Wheelchair Foundation delivers Hope, Mobility and Freedom
Woolston Eyes Conservation Project
It's aim is to promote the study and conservation of the wildlife and habitat of the area with particular regard to the ornithology
Making Space, Warrington
Making Space continues to raise the standard in mental health services, enabling social inclusion and promoting independence, with all service provision offering a person centred approach.
Warrington Hospital League of Friends
The Hospital League of Friends was formed over 40 years ago, the objectives being to add to the patient care. League members are all volunteers and receive no remuneration or expenses.
The Money raised is used to buy either Medical and Surgical equipment for the hospital and items to improve patient comfort.
Fife Rangers Junior Football Club
Our local league is the Warrington Junior Football League We have teams ranging from Under 6's to Under 15s at junior level plus U16s, U18s and Open Age.
Cambodian Hospital
Dalton Boot, [Orthopaedic Surgeon at Warrington Hospital], has spent the last 4 years helping Cambodian Surgeons to develop an Orthopaedic unit to treat the many patients with untreated orthopaedic deformities and the many victims of road accidents.The present ward is now much improved but very overcrowded: The charity is trying to fund a new building to admit and treat more people. Luckily building costs in Cambodia are a fraction of those in UK. Please get in touch if you can offer any help to Dalton Boot.
Warrington Schools Concert Band
President's Charity for 2008
From its formation in October 1987 with just 17 musicians at its first rehearsal, Warrington Schools’ Concert Band has developed into an organisation that has a reputation for presenting challenging but enjoyable music from the modern symphonic band repertoire to its members and audiences alike. It provides an opportunity for young musicians from schools in Warrington and the surrounding districts to develop as individual musicians whilst concentrating on adventurous compositions.
Canal Boat Adventure Project
Provides residential service for young people 7- 21 years old and can include training, educational and social opportunities. The CBAP addresses social inclusion by offering opportunities for children and young people in organising, in partnership with adults, residential or day projects: these cover group work, training and support based on identified needs e.g. children's rights, sexual health, citizenship, self-esteem/confidence etc
Active Hope
Warrington based charity which is committed to giving children and young people from all circumstances and backgrounds access to fantastic Outdoor and Adventurous Activities provided by a dedicated team of Christian instructors and volunteers. Many of those catered for are often those who have been excluded and are socially disadvantaged. Although they are Christian based the project is open to and caters for all backgrounds.
Sunshine and Rainbow Assessment Nursery
This nursery is at Sandy Lane Children’s Centre, Orford, Warrington and provides a specialist facility used by pre-school children with complex physical and communication difficulties. This nursery is the only specialist facility for Warrington's pre-school children.
St Josephs Family Centre
Family support services including: Family Contact Facility, Counselling,
Marriage Care, Support Programme for Children, Support for Divorced / Separated Parties, Bereavement Care, Parenting Skills Courses, Anger Management Courses, Family Home Visits, Material Help (Emergency Only), Spiritual Help, Complementary Therapies.
Agape Family Ministries
A Christian Mission in South Africa to provide schooling, homes and possibly a clinic, for orphans due to AIDS/HIV and children with disabilities in a very poor area of South Africa, Grabouw.
Sarnelli House
Sarnelli House is an orphanage for abandoned children and children with HIV/AIDS in the Northern parts of Thailand. The orphanage has grown over 5 years to become home to over 150 children who are provided with medication to manage their HIV infection, food, shelter, protection and the means by which to attend a local school - enriching the lives of children for whom the alternative would be prostitution, street begging and a daily battle with their illness.

YMCA Furniture Project
The YMCA furniture project offers good quality, pre-loved furniture for young people. Contact the project on 01925 232725 (Monday to Thursday 9am - 1pm) for more information. Enquirers complete a form about what furniture is needed. Forms are available from: 3 Winmarleigh Street, Warrington, WA1 1NB or phone the number above. Next they will see what they have in stock and arrange a delivery date. Prices are low, for example £10 for a 3 piece suite!!
YMCA also offer support with a wide range of issues; housing; benefits; homelessness, social services, drugs and alcohol, health issues. Shower and washing facilities, signposting, student placements.
Brainwave North West
Brainwave, which provides home based therapy programmes for children with cerebral palsy and other conditions such as development delay, has opened a third Centre in Birchwood, Warrington to cope with the increasing demand for its services.
Brainwave works with families to deliver individual home based therapy and exercise programmes that help children with disabilities and developmental delay to achieve their potential.
Warrington Young Musician organised by WACIDOM
'The Warrington Competition for Young Musicians' has been held bi-annually since 1998. Prizes are awarded to the finalists of both the Lower Division (up to Grade 6) and the Upper Division (Grade 7 upwards). All entrants to the heats receive a short master-class from a professional adjudicator and a written appraisal.
The whole essence of WACIDOM is to promote the enjoyment and improvement of skills in music making.
Music in Hospitals
There is recognition in the healthcare profession that exposure to high quality live music produces clear and measurable benefits to patients, residents and clients with a wide range of conditions.
Music in Hospitals engages professional musicians whose high standard of musicianship and communication skills aid the healing process and bring warmth into the lives of sick and disabled adults and children.
St Rocco's Hospice
The Hospice has been established in Warrington for 25 years and provides specialist care for patients with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. Our aim is to help everyone have the best quality of life by providing care and support in a friendly, relaxed environment.
St. Rocco’s is an independent Hospice and Registered Charity and takes patients from the Warrington and surrounding areas – population around 200,000.
Narayan Seva Sansthan
Narayan Seva Sansthan has been working for the “service of suffering humanity” rendering its services to physically, economically and socially needy people. The organization helps the physically challenged, especially the polio afflicted and those born with disabilities. The help is not only medical, but goes beyond it to ensure that the people are made self-dependent via employment.
Since 1985, over 95000 polio afflicted people have been able to stand on their legs after getting successfully operated under Sansthan’s move towards self-dependence of the handicapped. Besides free distribution of clothes, medicines, food grains etc. to the tribal in remote areas, it also provides free vocational training to the physically disabled and economically weaker sections of the society. It has provided facilities for the training of these people in wood craft, carpentry, black-smith trade, leather work etc. supplying the necessary tools and raw materials to begin with.
The organization has also been running an orphanage taking care of children who become orphan due to ‘Nata-Pratha’ – a social evil prevailing in this region of the country in which after the death of the husband, the wife goes away to stay with some other man leaving the children behind . Over 600 children have been taken care of and sent back to the main social stream.
Newchurch Community Primary School
The school is raising funds to improve the Infant school playground as well as to create some games pitches. They need at least £20,000 to carry out the improvements.
Warrington Society for Deaf People
Provides social and recreational facilities for deaf people. Acts as agent of social services providing welfare services. Promotes and supports deaf aids, teaches deaf sign language and provides aids. Meetings held every evening and Wednesday afternoons at the Deaf Sports and Social Club, 13 Wilson Patten Street, Warrington
Grappenhall Youth & Community Centre
The Grappenhall Community Centre combines The Bellhouse Club and The Grappenhall Youth and Community Association (GYCA), a registered Charity.
Many exciting events are organized throughout the year, including our well known and extremely popular Beer Festival which is now in its 15th Year, Quiz Nights, Wine Tasting, Halloween Party, Burns Night and many more. See details on our What’s On Calendar.
The majority of the facilities at Grappenhall Community Centre are available for hire. Our function rooms that can accommodate from 2 to 250 people.
