Club celebrates its 80th Birthday
President Cliff hosted an excellent 80th Charter night on Friday. It was very well attended by Rotarians and their family and friends, Rotarians from District and other clubs and representatives of the Charities supported by the Beer Festival.
Members of the Warrington Youth Orchestra welcomed us on arrival and the very nice meal was served well by the staff of the Fir Grove Hotel. Vice President Clive excelled in his role as MC and District Governor, Keith, was generous in his comments about our club.
Members brought some splendid raffle prizes and the donation by the BUPA hospital for the auction was an added highlight. Seeing the Charities being so grateful for their cheques is always rewarding after our efforts at the Beer Festival and it was so pleasing to see that Joe was fit enough to read the Charter.
The decision to have ‘Strike a Chord’ as the entertainment at our special birthday party was a master stroke. Their singing was a musical delight and I am sure that President Cliff and his wife Jean were so very proud.
The raffle at Charter night raised £475 and the auction £210. A big thank you all prize donators
