Beers for the 2007 Warrington Rotary Beer Festival

The beers that follow are some of those that we hope to present at Oktoberfest 11. The full list will be published in the week before the Festival.

All Gates: Brightblade Style: bitter Colour: very pale ABV: 4.0	Brewery: All Gates, Wigan The use of three hops arouses the taste buds with ginger spice & lemon nose. A very good aftertaste
Bob’s Brewery: Chardonnayle Style: pale ale Colour: pale ABV: 5.1	Brewery: Bob’s Brewery, Ossett Complex & stylish strong pale ale with hints of lemongrass & fruits like a Chardonnay wine, using Willamette hops for aroma.
Boggart: Angel Hill Style: bitter Colour: very pale ABV: 4.2	Brewery: Boggart, Manchester Premium pale ale with aromatic explosion of flavour - for the true bitter drinker.
Boggart: The Dark Side Style: porter Colour: dark ABV: 4.4	Brewery: Boggart, Manchester Premium pale ale with aromatic explosion of flavour - for the true bitter drinker.
Broughton: Merlin’s Ale Style: bitter Colour: gold ABV: 4.2	Brewery: Broughton Named for legendary Merlin, whose burial site is close to Broughton Brewery, this golden coloured, hoppy ale has a light refreshing flavour & a mystical aftertaste.
Cains: Autumn Leaf Style: bitter Colour: gold ABV: 4.0	Brewery: Cains, Liverpool Golden ale with Styrian hops giving a rich fruity grapefruit character and subtle bitterness
Cains: 2008 Cultured Beer Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 5.0	Brewery: Cains, Liverpool Full, clean & refreshing pale coloured bitter with an abundance of citrus hop character created by the blend of dry & late hopping techniques.
Cains: Dark Mild Style: mild Colour: dark ABV: 3.2	Brewery: Cains, Liverpool 3 times bronze medal winner(Great British Beer Festival) Smooth, full flavoured, with a rich creamy head. Full body & distinctive roasted malt taste, balanced by fresh hop character.
Cains: IPA Style: IPA Colour: pale ABV: 3.5	Brewery: Cains, Liverpool Refreshing session beer, with a subtle hop aroma & a light, yet full flavour.
Cairngorm: Trade Winds Style: bitter Colour: gold ABV: 4.3	Brewery: Cairngorm, Aviemore Light and golden, Perle hops and elderflower provide a bouquet of fruit and citrus flavours.CAMRA Champion Speciality Beer of Britai 2004, 2005, 2006 SIBA UK Champion Best Bitter 2006 CAMRA Champon Beer of Scotland 2004
Coach House: Postlethwaite Style: bitter Colour: gold ABV: 4.6	Brewery: Coach House, Warrington Champion Beer of Cheshire 2001 brewed for10th year of trading & the success of one of Warrington's most famous sons.Golden cask ale, made only from the finest Maris Otter malt, Crystal malt & English hops. Choicest English Golding hops are added immediately after filling, resulting in a full-bodied satisfying drink with superb hop aroma.
Coach House: Blueberry Style: fruit Colour: pale ABV: 5.0	Brewery: Coach House, Warrington Fruity & bitter with light dry aftertaste. Only finest English ingredients are used, including natural blueberry flavour incorporated during maturation. Fully fermented to produce a very drinkable beer at this strength. Warming & autumnal.
Coach House: Passion Fruit Style: fruit Colour: very pale ABV: 5.0	Brewery: Coach House, Warrington Very pale with light delicate bitterness & the natural flavour of passion fruit
Coach House: Plum Style: fruit Colour: very pale ABV: 5.0	Brewery: Coach House, Warrington Very pale with a light delicate bitterness & the natural flavour of plum
Daleside: Blonde Style: bitter Colour: gold ABV: 3.9	Brewery: Daleside, Harrogate Hoppy with a hint of citrus & sherbet. A distinctive nose combines with a delicate taste & subtle aftertaste to make a delightfully different Yorkshire brew.
Dark Star: Espresso Stout Style: stout Colour: dark ABV: 4.2	Brewery: Dark Star, Haywards Heath Freshly ground espresso coffee beans are added to the copper for a few minutes after the boil to provide a rich aroma.
Dark Star: Porter Style: porter Colour: dark ABV: 5.5	Brewery: Dark Star, Haywards Heath Old recipe with brown & black malts, using Target hops for traditional full flavour.
Dunham Massey: Big Tree Bitter Style: bitter Colour: amber ABV: 3.9	Brewery: Dunham Massey Traditional North-west style bitter
Dunham Massey: Deer Beer Style: bitter Colour: rich amber ABV: 4.0	Brewery: Dunham Massey Darker bitter with a malty, full-bodied flavour
Durham: Magus Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 3.8	Brewery: Durham A pale session ale with lager qualities, bitter & aromatic with citrus overtones. A complex blend of English, American, Slovenian & Czech hops. Voted CAMRA Beer of the North East 2002.
Funfair: Cakewalk Style: bitter Colour: dark ABV: 6.0	Brewery: Funfair, Ilkeston Dark beer with fruits added into the fermentation.
Fuzzy Duck: Pheasant Plucker Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 4.2	Brewery: Fuzzy Duck , Poulton-le-Fylde Re-launched pale coppered coloured bitter.
Goose Eye: Chinook Blonde Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 4.2	Brewery: Goose Eye, Keighley American Chinook hops produce a pale beer.
Goose Eye: Barmpot Style: bitter Colour: pale yellow ABV: 3.8	Brewery: Goose Eye, Keighley Pale golden, additive free, traditionally brewed, with refreshing lingering taste of hops.
Green Mill: Pearly Gates Style: IPA Colour: amber ABV: 5.0	Brewery: Green Mill, Rochdale Malty, amber ale, with distinctive hoppy aftertaste.
Greenfield: How Dare Ewe Style: bitter Colour: amber ABV: 4.2	Brewery: Greenfield, Saddleworth Amber session bitter
Hadrian & Border: Centurian Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 4.5	Brewery: Hadrian & Border Light coloured bitter with distinct hop palate, pleasantly fruity, smooth, clean tasting & refreshing.
Hanby Ales: Cherrybomb Style: bitter Colour: rich amber ABV: 6.0	Brewery: Hanby Ales, Wem, Shropshire Splendid rich fruity beer with a maraschino cherry taste & potent punch. Best Beer Oktoberfest 1.
Hanby Ales: Black Magic Style: mild Colour: dark ABV: 4.0	Brewery: Hanby Ales, Wem, Shropshire Dry, malty dark mild, full of character.
Hawkshead: Lakeland Gold Style: bitter Colour: gold ABV: 4.6	Brewery: Hawkshead, Staveley, Cumbria Golden Ale. Hoppy & uncompromisingly bitter with complex fruit flavours from the blending of a modern English hop, First Gold, with the American, Cascade.
Hesket Newmarket : Old Carrock Style: bitter Colour: dark red ABV: 6.0	Brewery: Hesket Newmarket, Wigton Smooth blend of crystal, chocolate & pale malts modestly bittered with East Kent Goldings & First Gold hops, then finished with a late addition of Styrian Goldings to give classic liquid Christmas pudding taste.
Hesket Newmarket: Cockup Porter Style: porter Colour: dark ABV: 3.0	Brewery: Hesket Newmarket, Wigton Crisp chocolate malt flavour, smoothed with liberal crystal malt & carefully controlled fermentation to give a full stout-like palate with balanced bitterness from Fuggles, Goldings & just a hint of Herzbrucker Hallertau.
Hobson’s: Mild Style: mild Colour: dark ABV: 3.2	Brewery: Hobson’s, Cleobury Mortimer Voted 'Champion Beer of Britain' at GBBF 2007
Holdens: Golden Glow Style: bitter Colour: pale yellow ABV: 4.4	Brewery: Holdens, Dudley Pale golden beer, with a subtle hop aroma, plus gentle sweetness & a light hoppiness add to the flavour.
Hornbeam: Black Coral Stout Style: stout Colour: dark ABV: 4.5	Brewery: Hornbeam, Manchester Smooth dry roast malt, dark & full bodied with rich creamy head. Satisfying with subtle bitterness.
Howard Town: Wren's Nest Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 4.2	Brewery: Howard Town, Glossop Hoppy IPA with spicy undertones & a bitter finish.
Howard Town: Glott's Hop Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 5.0	Brewery: Howard Town, Glossop Very hoppy, brewed with halcyon malt and Pioneer hops. it's light, Glott's Hop is allegedly the original name of Glossop, literally 'the house of Glott'. Howard Town like to think of Glott as a slightly fey fellow with a bit of a kick, much like the beer.
Jarrow: Red Ellen Style: bitter Colour: dark ruby ABV: 4.4	Brewery: Jarrow Named for Ellen Wilkinson, MP for Jarrow instrumental in organising the Jarrow March. Rich ruby red, full bodied ale with a citrus hop aroma.
Jennings: Snecklifter Style: bitter Colour: dark ABV: 5.2	Brewery: Jennings, Cockermouth Satisfying ale, wonderfully warming & full of complex flavours which create an intriguing beer of great character.
Kelham Island: Easy Rider Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 4.3	Brewery: Kelham Island, Sheffield Delicately flavoured pale beer- very easy drinking.
Leyden: Crowning Glory Style: bitter Colour: dark ABV: 6.8	Brewery: Leyden, Lord Raglan Hotel, Bury Strong dark ale with hints of Christmas pudding.
Marble: Ginger Marble Style: fruit Colour: straw ABV: 4.5	Brewery: Marble, Manchester Ginger IS the dominant flavour. Developing dryness that comes through, along with mixed spices & lemony/citrus element. Finish has hoppy dryness, after taste is rather long & has a kick of fresh root ginger & slight sweetness.
Naylors: Pinnacle Blonde Style: pale ale Colour: pale ABV: 4.3	Brewery: Naylors, Crosshills Pale Ale
Oakham: JHB Extra Style: bitter Colour: gold ABV: 4.2	Brewery: Oakham, Oakham Fruity citrus hop & grainy flavours with a spicy, peppery dry bitter finish with some fruit notes.
Owl: Tweet T'woo Style: bitter Colour: very pale ABV: 3.9	Brewery: Owl, Oldham Very pale lager style beer
Phoenix: Wobbly Bob Style: bitter Colour: dark ABV: 6.0	Brewery: Phoenix, Heywood Strong fruity, malty flavours & aromas, slight sweetness yields to dry finish. Best Beer Oktoberfest 9
Pictish: Mandela Style: bitter Colour: straw ABV: 4.7	Brewery: Pictish, Rochdale Named for the selfbearing spiral, or Mandela-roof ( not Nelson). Pale ale, using Mount Hood hops for a citrusy aroma.
Plassey: Dragon's Breath Style: bitter Colour: dark red ABV: 6.0	Brewery: Plassey, Wrexham A fruity, strong bitter, smooth & quite sweet, though not cloying with an intense fruity aroma. A dangerously drinkable winter warmer.
Prospect: Gold Rush Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 4.0	Brewery: Prospect, Wigan Pale bitter hopped with Nugget, Cascade hops provide the aroma.
Prospect: Pioneer Style: bitter Colour: pale amber ABV: 4.0	Brewery: Prospect, Wigan Copper coloured bitter, hopped with Pioneer & Goldings hops
Roosters: Yankee Style: bitter Colour: amber ABV: 4.3	Brewery: Roosters, Knaresborough Premium aromatic bitter with soft bitterness. Aromas of lychees, tropical fruits & sometimes Muscat grapes from the Cascade hops grown in the Yakima Valley.
Spinning Dog: Top Dog Style: bitter Colour: amber ABV: 4.2	Brewery: Spinning Dog, Hereford Full bodied amber coloured bitter, rich in malt undertones& a fresh fruity aroma.
Spitting Feathers: Blood, Sweat & Cheers Style: bitter Colour: rich amber ABV: 4.1	Brewery: Spitting Feathers, Waverton, Chester Brewed for the Rugby World Cup, satisfying, tawny coloured beer with generous flavours of malt and hops and a slightly spicy, bittersweet finish.
Stewart: Edinburgh No. 3 Style: bitter Colour: rich amber ABV: 4.3	Brewery: Stewart, Edinburgh Full bodied, smooth, intense colour, rich malty taste, & clean finish. Brewed with Scottish water, 4 types of malt, subtly balanced using small amount of the finest fresh hop cones.
Stonehouse: Wheeltappers Wheat Style: wheat Colour: gold ABV: 4.5	Brewery: Stonehouse, Oswestry Refreshing, golden wheat beer with hints of coriander & lemon zest
Thomas Hardy: I Can't Believe it's not Lager Style: lager Colour: pale ABV: 4.7	Brewery: Thomas Hardy, Burtonwood Distinctive slightly sweet lager style beer with an extra hop 'bite'.
Thomas Hardy: O’Hardy’s Stout Style: stout Colour: black ABV: 4.0	Brewery: Thomas Hardy, Burtonwood Smooth dark Irish Stout
Thomas Hardy: SimpLEE The Best Style: bitter Colour: amber ABV: 4.9	Brewery: Thomas Hardy, Burtonwood Strong, smooth & malty. Celebrating Lee Briers 10 great years with Warrington Wolves
Thomas Hardy: Wizzerwoo Style: bitter Colour: very pale ABV: 5.6	Brewery: Thomas Hardy, Burtonwood Very pale, very strong. Best Beer Oktoberfest 8
Thornbridge: Wild Swan Style: bitter Colour: gold ABV: 3.5	Brewery: Thornbridge, Ashford-in-the-water, Derbyshire White gold in colour with aromas of light bitter lemon & spices
Thornbridge: Jaipur Style: IPA Colour: pale ABV: 5.9	Brewery: Thornbridge, Ashford-in-the-water, Derbyshire Wonderful IPA, soft smooth flavour rapidly builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. Slowly converts to a powerful but pleasant enduring, bitter finish
WC Brewery: Kami-Khasi Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 3.8	Brewery: WC Brewery, Mickle Trafford, Chester Pale and extremely hoppy, almost suicidally bitter
Weetwood: Cheshire Cat Style: bitter Colour: amber ABV: 4.0	Brewery: Weetwood, Tarporley Smooth foretaste & fruity hoppy finish makes an easy drinking ale of distinction.
Weetwood: Oasthouse Gold Style: bitter Colour: amber ABV: 5.0	Brewery: Weetwood, Tarporley The addition of wheat malt produces a full & memorable foretaste, with Goldings adding a lingering, unique dry finish. Best Beer Oktoberfest 2
Wentworth: Rampant Gryphon Style: strong Colour: rich amber ABV: 6.2	Brewery: Wentworth, Rotherham A pleasingly strong ale.
Westerham: British Bulldog Style: bitter Colour: amber ABV: 4.3	Brewery: Westerham, Kent A rich, full bodied best bitter in the traditional Kent style. Finest Maris Otter Pale Ale Malt and Crystal Malt for colour and richness. Hopped with local Northdown and Whitbread Golding Variety hops for a full flavour and aroma.
Westerham: William Wilberforce Freedom Ale Style: bitter Colour: very pale ABV: 4.3	Brewery: Westerham, Kent Produced for Fairtrade Fortnight 2007 and to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act on 25th March, 1807. Traditionally floor-malted Maris Otter pale ale malt, crystal malt and Kentish hops combine with Fairtrade Demerara sugar to produce a deep golden ale. It is characterised by its mellow bitterness and long hoppy finish.
Woodlands: Drummer Style: bitter Colour: pale ABV: 3.9	Brewery: Woodlands, Wrenbury An exceptional light tan session beer.
Yeovil: Summerset Style: bitter Colour: pale yellow ABV: 4.1	Brewery: Yeovil, Lufton Copper blonde ale with an unusual tangerine floral hop finish
